The North Carolina Public Health Foundation (NCPHF) was founded in 2003 in order to increase the capacity of the North Carolina Division of Public Health (DPH), NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to serve the public health needs of North Carolina. It is an independent 501(c)(3) corporation and has completed the certification process to become a DHHS Related Foundation. This certification forms the basis of an interdependent relationship between DPH and NCPHF. The offices of NCPHF are located on the DPH campus in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Foundation helps to develop effective partnerships between DPH and individuals, corporations and many other organizations.
Since October 2006, NCPHF has secured over $5 million in support of many DPH programs ranging from statewide pandemic flu preparedness studies to developing active community environments. Financial support has come from a wide range of corporations, foundations and individuals. As the capacity and visibility of NCPHF grows within the public health community more resources, backed by the experience and science of DPH, will reach the communities and people in need in North Carolina.
